In Egypt’s history, different cultures and religions have led to different civilizations, which you can see in the interesting places in Cairo.

There are a lot of interesting churches and the Coptic Quarter in Cairo. Also, Islamic Cairo, with its big mosques, is a very interesting place to visit. There are many mosques, bazaars, and narrow streets with beautiful architecture in the Islamic Quarter.

The House of Al-Suhaymi is one place that shows who it is (in Arabic “p”). This House has a unique design, and it is now thought of as a museum of cultural encounters.

About Bayt Al-Past Suhaymi’s

It’s a good idea to learn more about the lives and homes of the people who used to live in Egypt. In the Islamic Quarter, Al-Suhaymi House is well known. It is on the street Darb Al-Asfar, which is a branch of the street Calle de El-Moez.

Abd El-Wahab El-Tablawy built the house in 1648 AD, which is in the 17th century. The House is the best example of an Ottoman house because of how it was built. Ahmed Al-Suhaymi bought the house in 1796 and added the two houses next to it to make it bigger.

He added some things to his plan as well. Since 1931, it has been a place of history and Islam. The house was fixed up in the year 1994.

How Al-Suhaymi House Was Built and How It Looks

The House is built in an Ottoman style. It took 2000 m2 to build. On the first floor, the House is built around a marble fountain that keeps the water cool as it flows from one bowl to the next.

The house has a marble floor and a high, painted wood ceiling. There are two patios. One has a small garden with trees and palm trees, and the other is for service. It has a storage well and a flour mill.

The House has two floors. On the first floor are the reception rooms and walls with green and blue tiles. On the second floor, which is the family apartment, there are “Mashrabiya” windows, which are made of wood and have latticework that lets women look out without being seen. Wood is used to make all of the furniture in the house.

How Al-Suhaymi House Was Built and Designed.

When the house was being fixed up, it was found that it was built on the remains of Fatimid buildings. The high ceilings, thick walls, fountain, and windows in the architecture make the dry and hot climate of Cairo more comfortable and make life easier. The “Mashrabiya” windows were added by Ahmed Al-Suhaymi.
